WEC Energy Group Selects Wartsila Engines for New Michigan Plant
By Editors of Power Engineering
Two new gas-fired power plants being developed by WEC Energy Group will incorporate Wartsila Engines.
The company will provide ten Wartsila 50SW engines running on natural gas for the plants, which will have a combined output of 188 MW.
The $277 million plants to be developed in Baraga County and Marquette County in the upper peninsula of Michigan are set to replace capacity from the coal-fired Presque Isle Power Plant, which is targeted for closure.
The plants are expected to come online in 2019.
Wartsila now has an installed base of more than 3,000 MW in the United States.
